Bengaluru: A major political development unfolded in Karnataka on Friday after Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot formally accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, bringing the state cabinet led by him to an immediate end.
The resignation was submitted a day earlier to the Governor’s Special Secretary at Lok Bhavan, as the Governor was not present at the time. Following the constitutional process, an official notification confirming the acceptance of the resignation was issued on Friday.
In the notification, the Governor stated that the Council of Ministers headed by Siddaramaiah stood dissolved with immediate effect under the powers granted by Article 164(1) of the Constitution of India.
