Jaunpur: A 75-year-old man’s desire to find companionship in old age ended in tragedy after he died just a day after remarrying. The incident took place in Kuchhmuchh village of Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district, where the man, identified as Sangruram, had been living alone since the death of his first wife last year.
According to locals, Sangruram, who had no children from his first marriage, depended on farming for his livelihood. In search of a partner to end his solitude, he married 35-year-old Manbhavati on September 29. The couple first registered their marriage in court before performing traditional rituals at a local temple.
Manbhavati, who has three children from her previous marriage, told villagers that her husband had assured her that he would provide for the family while she managed the household. On their wedding night, the two reportedly spent hours talking.
However, the next morning, Sangruram’s health deteriorated suddenly. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The exact cause of his death has not been determined.
The sudden demise has sparked suspicion among villagers and relatives, who have demanded clarity before the funeral. Family members based in Delhi have instructed locals to halt the last rites until they arrive in the village.
