Srinagar: In a significant move aimed at disrupting terror-linked networks, Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out extensive search operations across Srinagar on Wednesday. The raids targeted individuals believed to be connected with outlawed terror outfits or supporting unlawful activities under investigation.

According to an official statement, the coordinated operation was part of an intensified crackdown on elements suspected of facilitating or promoting terrorism in the region. “The Srinagar Police, in its sustained efforts to dismantle terror infrastructure and curb unlawful activities, conducted simultaneous raids at several locations within city limits,” a police spokesperson confirmed.

Authorities conducted the searches in connection with an ongoing case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The homes of individuals allegedly linked with proscribed groups were among the primary locations searched.

The operations were carried out in accordance with the law, under the watch of executive magistrates and neutral observers, ensuring procedural transparency. Senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police supervised the actions on the ground.

The spokesperson added, “The objective was to recover potential evidence, including digital storage devices, documentation, and any other material relevant to the ongoing investigation.”

Officials emphasized that the searches form part of a larger intelligence-driven strategy to preempt any threats to public peace or national security.

Sources indicate that several items have been seized for forensic analysis, and further questioning of suspects may follow based on findings from today’s operation.

The development underscores a growing focus on proactive counter-terrorism efforts in Kashmir, particularly in urban zones like Srinagar, where sleeper cells and local support networks are a continuing concern for security agencies.
