Moscow/New Delhi: Moscow is set to witness a vibrant celebration of Indian heritage and the longstanding friendship between India and Russia as the four-day India Day Festival gets underway today at Gostiny Dvor.
Organised around the theme “Unity of Cultures – Friendship of Peoples,” the festival will bring together elements of both countries’ cultural traditions while highlighting the strong people-to-people connection between India and Russia.
Visitors will have an opportunity to explore nearly 20 specially designed zones covering a wide range of Indian cultural experiences. The festival will feature dedicated spaces showcasing yoga, chess, Indian wedding traditions, dance, Ayurveda and Indian cuisine.
The event is also expected to see significant participation from performers and cultural groups. More than 200 Indian and Russian dancers are scheduled to take part, adding music and movement to the celebrations.
Yoga will be another major attraction, with around 75 yoga schools from different parts of Russia expected to participate in the festival. Their involvement reflects the popularity of Indian wellness traditions among Russian audiences.
Beyond performances and exhibitions, the festival aims to provide visitors with an opportunity to experience India’s diverse cultural traditions while strengthening the bonds between the people of the two nations.
The four-day programme is expected to draw visitors interested in Indian art, food, traditions and wellness, while also providing a platform for cultural interaction between Indian and Russian communities in Moscow.
