New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) detected unaccounted cash worth Rs 68.53 lakh during security checks at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, leading to the handover of two passengers and the seized currency to Income Tax officials.
According to the CISF, the cash was detected by personnel deployed at the Random X-BIS and ASG Delhi during behavioural observation and subsequent CCTV analysis.
Acting on suspicion, CISF personnel selected a passenger for detailed screening. During a review of CCTV footage, another passenger travelling with him was also identified for further checking. The two passengers were reportedly travelling to Guwahati and onward to Agartala.
A detailed examination of their baggage resulted in the recovery of cash amounting to Rs 68.53 lakh from the two passengers.
The passengers, along with the recovered currency, baggage and relevant travel documents, were subsequently handed over to Income Tax authorities for further investigation and necessary action.
The seizure highlights the role of behavioural analysis, surveillance systems and CCTV monitoring in detecting suspicious activity during airport security operations.
