Chennai: A bomb threat email targeting Vice President CP Radhakrishnan’s Poes Garden residence triggered a swift response from security agencies on Friday. However, after an extensive search, police confirmed that the threat was a hoax.

The email was sent to the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, prompting immediate deployment of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and a sniffer dog team to the Vice President’s residence. A thorough search was carried out across the premises.

A senior police official said, “The threat appears to be a hoax,” adding that the Chennai Police have received multiple such email threats in recent weeks. Investigations are underway to trace the origin and sender of the messages.

Authorities have increased surveillance and are coordinating with cybercrime units to identify those behind the recurring hoax threats.
