Uttarakhand: Continuous snowfall in Kedarnath Dham has covered the entire township in a thick blanket of snow, posing challenges for authorities gearing up for the upcoming pilgrimage season.
With the temple scheduled to reopen on April 22, ongoing preparations—including cleaning, infrastructure work, and logistical arrangements—have been significantly slowed due to the harsh weather. Workers on-site are facing difficulties as persistent snowfall continues to hinder movement and construction activities.
Officials involved in the preparations said that while efforts are underway to keep the timeline intact, the weather conditions remain a major concern. Clearing pathways and ensuring basic facilities for pilgrims has become more demanding under the current circumstances.
Kedarnath, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India, witnesses a large influx of devotees every year once the shrine reopens after winter closure. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to accelerate work as soon as weather conditions improve.
