Lucknow: Sixteen students fell unconscious on Thursday after a suspected gas leak at a private school in Sandila town, triggering panic among children and staff. Officials said the affected students were immediately taken to two private hospitals, and one child was later referred to Lucknow for specialised treatment.
District Magistrate Anunay Jha said an inquiry had been launched to determine the source of the leak and assured that strict action would follow once the cause is established. A strong odour reportedly spread across the school premises, causing several students to panic and rush out of their classrooms.
Teachers swiftly evacuated the entire school and alerted parents as well as local authorities. DM Jha and Superintendent of Police Ashok Meena reached the school, reviewed the situation, and met the children receiving treatment.
Jha confirmed that all 16 students were stable and under observation. “One student has been referred to King George’s Medical University in Lucknow. The exact origin of the gas leak is still unknown. Legal action will be taken after the investigation,” he said.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sought a detailed report and directed officials to ensure proper medical care for all affected children and conduct a thorough probe into the incident
