Delhi: In a coordinated operation spanning multiple locations in Tamil Nadu, Delhi Police have arrested eight individuals accused of promoting Pakistan-based extremist groups through social media and engaging in activities linked to anti-national networks.

Among those detained are Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid and Mohammad Ujjal. Officials said the arrests were carried out in Uthukuli, Palladam and Thirumuruganpoondi following intelligence inputs regarding suspicious online activity and alleged logistical support to terror elements.

According to police sources, two of the accused were apprehended from Uthukuli, three from Palladam and one from the Thirumuruganpoondi region. The suspects had reportedly been working in the garment sector while allegedly concealing their identities using forged Aadhaar cards.

During the operation, authorities seized eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards, which are now being examined for digital evidence. Investigators believe the devices may contain material related to extremist propaganda and communication with handlers.

Officials said preliminary findings suggest that the group had been circulating content online in support of terror outfits based in Pakistan. They are also suspected of conducting reconnaissance in multiple cities, raising concerns about potential plans beyond online activity.

Police further stated that posters carrying “Free Kashmir” slogans had recently surfaced in parts of Delhi, and investigators are examining possible links between the arrested individuals and the appearance of those materials.

All eight accused are being transported to the national capital by train for further questioning and legal proceedings. Authorities have indicated that additional arrests are possible as the probe expands.

Delhi Police described the operation as part of an ongoing effort to curb radical networks and prevent the misuse of social media platforms for extremist messaging. The investigation remains underway.
