Indore: A devastating road accident in the Indore district of Madhya Pradesh resulted in the death of a 29-year-old relative of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, local officials confirmed on Friday. The driver of the speeding mini-bus responsible for the fatal collision has been taken into police custody.
BJP MLA Rajesh Sonkar stated that the victim, identified as Prabhat Singh, was travelling from Bhopal to Indore on Thursday night. According to police reports, Singh had temporarily parked his vehicle by the roadside in the Kshipra area at around 10:00 PM.
The fatal incident occurred just as Prabhat stepped out of his vehicle and was preparing to re-enter. A speeding mini-bus travelling from the opposite direction struck him with immense force, causing instantaneous fatal injuries.
Kshipra police station in-charge Kailash Solanki confirmed that law enforcement personnel responded immediately, impounding the errant mini-bus at the scene. The driver, identified as Raju, was taken into custody, and formal legal proceedings are currently underway. Following a post-mortem examination, Prabhat’s mortal remains were transported to Delhi, from where they were taken to his home state of Uttar Pradesh for the final rites. While MLA Sonkar confirmed Prabhat’s relation to the defence minister, the exact nature of their family connection has not been publicised.
