Marwahi: A husband and wife lost their lives after lightning struck their residence during severe rainfall in Chhattisgarh’s Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district on Saturday night, police officials reported on Sunday. The tragedy occurred in Katra Dhapnipani village, situated under the jurisdiction of the Marwahi police station.
The victims, identified as 45-year-old Mangal Singh and his 40-year-old wife, Biraspatia Bai, were present inside their home when the bolt struck the structure. Both individuals collapsed instantly from the impact. Family members and neighbouring villagers promptly arranged for an ambulance to transport the unconscious couple to a nearby Community Health Centre.
Medical personnel at the healthcare facility examined the pair upon arrival and officially declared them dead. Local law enforcement authorities have since registered the matter and initiated standard statutory proceedings and inquiry protocols related to accidental weather fatalities.
