New Delhi: Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the online movement Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), joined a demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday amid tight security arrangements and a significant turnout of supporters.
Hundreds of people, largely comprising students and young professionals, gathered at the protest venue. Many participants wore cockroach masks and carried flowers as symbols of the movement. School students were also seen attending the demonstration alongside their parents.
The gathering was dominated by school and college students who raised slogans and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Protesters voiced concerns over education-related issues and called for greater accountability from policymakers.
The demonstration was held after Delhi Police granted permission for the protest at Jantar Mantar, one of the capital’s designated venues for public demonstrations.
Social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has extended support to the movement, said he would undertake a six-week fast if Dipke is arrested in connection with the protest.
Authorities maintained a strong security presence at the venue to ensure the event remained peaceful. No major untoward incident was reported during the demonstration.
