Korba: A gruesome incident in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district has shocked residents after a 58-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife and roamed around the village carrying her severed head before surrendering to the police.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening in Bundeli village under the Rajgamar police outpost limits. The accused, identified as Salik Ram Yadav, worked as a watchman at a local poultry farm.
According to police, Yadav allegedly attacked his 50-year-old wife with a sharp meat-cutting weapon following a domestic dispute. Officials said he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime.
After the killing, the accused was reportedly seen moving through the village with the severed head in one hand and the weapon in the other, creating panic among locals. He later placed the head and the weapon in a plastic sack, left the torso at the spot, and walked into the Rajgamar police outpost.
During initial questioning, Yadav told police that frequent arguments with his wife, who allegedly suspected his character, led to the attack.
The couple, originally from Ajgarbahar Haldimada village in Korba block, had been working at the poultry farm for the past three years. They have four children.
Police have arrested the accused and seized the weapon used in the crime. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
