Murshidabad, West Bengal: The Border Security Force (BSF) seized gold biscuits valued at ₹1.09 crore near the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, the paramilitary force said on Tuesday.
Acting on specific intelligence, the 146 Battalion of the BSF, deployed at the Charbhadra Forward Border Outpost, recovered eight gold biscuits on Monday night. The bullion, weighing 832.55 grams, had been concealed in a field near the border.
According to the BSF, personnel noticed a patch of grass that appeared unusually piled up. Upon digging, they discovered the gold biscuits wrapped in a red cloth, hidden beneath the surface.
The operation highlights continued vigilance by the BSF to prevent smuggling and illegal movement of high-value items across the India-Bangladesh border.
