Amritsar: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia was granted interim bail by a court in Amritsar on Monday in a case alleging that he and several party supporters entered the Majitha police station, damaged official records and obstructed government functioning.
The case was registered against Majithia and more than 50 Shiromani Akali Dal workers. According to the allegations, the accused entered the police station premises and tore official documents, leading to charges related to interference in official duties.
During previous hearings, the court had directed the police to produce CCTV footage from the police station to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
After hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence, the court granted interim relief to Majithia.
The development comes amid ongoing political and legal battles involving the senior Akali leader, who has maintained that the cases against him are politically motivated.
Further proceedings in the matter are expected as the court continues to examine the evidence, including CCTV footage and other material placed on record.
