Ballia: A 44-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping and brutally assaulting an eight-year-old Class 2 student in the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. The horrifying incident occurred on July 13 at approximately 9:00 am while the young girl was walking to her school.
According to senior police officials, the accused has been identified as Chhotelal Yadav, a resident of the same village as the victim. Yadav allegedly intercepted the minor on her school route, lured her into a nearby field, and assaulted her. When the child raised an alarm to protect herself, the accused began thrashing her aggressively. However, as local villagers heard the commotion and started approaching the spot, the assailant fled the scene.
Following the attack, the girl’s father lodged an official complaint with the local police, leading to the registration of a First Information Report against Yadav on Tuesday. Acting swiftly on the registered complaint, a dedicated police team tracked down and apprehended the accused on Wednesday morning. All necessary legal formalities have been processed, and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Alok Gupta.
