Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi Issues Blunt Warning to Pakistan Over Cross-Border Terrorism

NEW DELHI — In a powerful military warning directed at Islamabad, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi stated that Pakistan must choose between remaining a part of geography or becoming history if it continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism against India. The Army Chief delivered these remarks on Saturday during an interactive session at the Manekshaw Centre, emphasizing India’s unyielding stance against state-supported militant operations.

The statement was made during the ‘Sena Samwad’ event, organized by ‘Uniform Unveiled’, where General Dwivedi was questioned on how the Indian military would react if conditions mirroring last year’s cross-border escalations were to recur. Reaffirming his prior position, the General noted that the responsibility lies squarely with Islamabad to evaluate its future actions and the severe national consequences they could invite if provocations persist.

The blunt warning coincides with the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, a major military engagement triggered in early May last year following a deadly terror assault on tourists in Pahalgam. In retaliation to that attack, Indian defence forces executed precise strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure situated across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The subsequent military conflict saw counter-offensives from both nuclear-armed nations and spanned approximately 88 hours. The intensive standoff finally halted after both sides database-reached a mutual understanding on the evening of May 10 last year. General Dwivedi’s latest comments serve as a sharp reminder that India remains prepared to deploy swift and decisive operations to safeguard its sovereignty against hostile neighbours.
