Ahilyanagar: Social activist Anna Hazare observed a two-hour silent protest (maun andolan) at Wadia Park in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, expressing solidarity with student demonstrations organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in New Delhi. Visuals from the demonstration showed the veteran activist becoming emotional while highlighting the hardships faced by young candidates protesting against paper leaks in competitive examinations like NEET. Urging government leaders to handle the situation with empathy, Hazare appealed to central authorities to open constructive channels of communication with the agitating youth rather than relying on administrative force.
The silent fast followed a formal letter written by Hazare to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, wherein he described the recent violent clashes and heavy-handed police actions against student demonstrators in Delhi as deeply painful for a democratic nation. In his communication, the activist emphasized that public discontent over repeated question paper leaks, delayed recruitments, and administrative failures should be treated as genuine societal grief rather than mere law-and-order disruptions. He further asserted that establishing top-level accountability—including accepting the resignation of a union minister—would not weaken government authority, but would instead send a strong message across administrative departments regarding institutional governance and responsibility.
