New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated the Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Program (FTI-TTP) at five additional airports — Lucknow, Amritsar, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Tiruchirappalli — through video conferencing.

The scheme, first launched at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in June 2024, is designed to provide hassle-free immigration facilities, enhancing both speed and security for international travellers.

Calling the expansion “a matter of pride,” Shah said the initiative reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of integrating “speed, skill, and scope” into a single program to modernize immigration services. He urged officials to maximize enrolments so that more passengers benefit from the facility.

“This marks a significant milestone in PM Modi’s vision. Now, seamless immigration will be available at five more airports. We must ensure that the maximum number of travellers gain from this initiative,” Shah said.

The Union Minister also paid homage to Swami Vivekananda on the anniversary of his 1893 address at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago. He noted that just as Vivekananda introduced India’s cultural values to the world, the program provides an opportunity to showcase India’s progress to international visitors.

The FTI-TTP is part of the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ roadmap. It is currently available free of cost to Indian citizens and Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cardholders. Registration can be completed online through the official portal (https://ftittp.mha.gov.in), where applicants upload documents and later submit biometric data at FRROs or during airport clearance.

At airports, registered travellers scan their boarding pass and passport at e-gates. After biometric verification, the e-gate opens automatically, granting immigration clearance within seconds.

The facility is already operational in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad. By the end of its rollout, the program will cover 21 major airports across the country.
