Ambala Police Issue Traffic Advisory as Shambhu Border Sealed Over Farmers’ Delhi March

Ambala; Authorities in Ambala have issued a detailed traffic advisory for commuters travelling between Delhi and Punjab following the sealing of the Shambhu Border. The closure was enacted after a massive gathering of farmers assembled at the Punjab-Haryana border ahead of their planned “Desh Bachao Morcha” march to Delhi’s Kisan Ghat. The demonstration is primarily organized to protest against a proposed India-US trade deal, as well as recent detentions of prominent farm union leaders including Gurnam Singh Charuni.

To prevent severe traffic congestion, law enforcement officials have mapped out designated detours for inter-state movement. Vehicles moving from Delhi toward Punjab are directed to proceed via Ambala Cantt toward Chandigarh, passing through Lalru, Dera Bassi, and Zirakpur before entering Punjab. Conversely, traffic traveling from Punjab toward Delhi is being rerouted through Rajpura, Lalru, Dera Bassi, and Zirakpur to hit Ambala Cantt before continuing Southward toward the national capital.

Heavy police security, multi-layered barricading, and tactical deployments have been established along key border points to maintain law and order throughout the planned single-day march. Ambala Police officials confirmed that despite temporary disruptions along major arteries, emergency response units remain fully operational via the 112 helpline. Authorities continue to monitor the border situation closely to ensure public safety and minimize travel delays.
