New Delhi: Air India and Canada’s WestJet announced a major interline partnership on Friday, April 17, 2026, significantly expanding travel options for Indian passengers heading to Canada and the United States. The collaboration allows for single-ticket itineraries, coordinated baggage handling, and seamless transfers, providing access to over 30 destinations beyond the primary gateways of Toronto and Vancouver. This move is expected to drastically reduce the complexity and transit time for the thousands of students, business travellers, and families moving between the two regions.

Under the new agreement, passengers flying Air India into Toronto and Vancouver can connect to 17 Canadian cities, including Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, and Ottawa. Furthermore, the network extends to 14 American hubs such as Los Angeles, Nashville, and Las Vegas. To provide even greater flexibility, Air India confirmed that select Canadian destinations like Halifax and St. John’s will also be accessible via its European hubs in London, Paris, and Amsterdam, leveraging the airline’s 75 weekly flights to Europe.

Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, Nipun Aggarwal, emphasized that Canada remains a top-tier market due to deep diaspora roots and growing trade ties. WestJet’s Executive Vice-President, John Weatherill, added that combining Air India’s long-haul capabilities with WestJet’s extensive regional network creates a superior travel experience. With bookings now open across all platforms, the partnership marks a strategic step in addressing the surging demand for India-North America travel, which has seen a significant uptick in the 2026 travel season.
