Agra: A gruesome murder case has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, where a woman has been arrested after police recovered the skeletal remains of her husband from beneath the bathroom floor of their residence. The body was allegedly hidden there for over a month while the family believed the man had simply gone missing.
The accused, Ruby Sharma, is suspected of killing her husband, Surendra Sharma, following a domestic dispute before burying his body inside the house and covering the spot with a fresh layer of concrete in an attempt to erase all traces of the crime.
The incident came to light after police investigating Surendra’s disappearance were led back to the family home. During the inquiry, investigators unearthed human remains buried beneath the bathroom floor, bringing an end to the mystery surrounding the missing man.
Disappearance Turned Into Murder Investigation
Surendra had reportedly been missing since late May, prompting his family to approach the police. For several weeks, investigators searched for clues while questioning relatives and neighbours, but no concrete lead emerged.
The investigation took a dramatic turn after police received fresh information indicating that the victim might never have left the house. Acting on the tip-off, officers questioned Ruby, who allegedly admitted to her involvement in the killing.
Following her statement, police excavated the bathroom area and recovered skeletal remains believed to be those of Surendra. The remains have been sent for forensic examination and post-mortem analysis to determine the exact cause of death.
Frequent Domestic Disputes Alleged
During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly claimed that her husband frequently consumed alcohol and subjected her to physical abuse. According to investigators, recurring domestic conflicts had strained the relationship for years.
Police said the woman alleged that another violent altercation eventually pushed her to take the extreme step. Authorities, however, are verifying every aspect of her statement and have not ruled out other possible motives.
Concrete Floor Raised Suspicion
Investigators found that the bathroom floor appeared to have been recently repaired, raising suspicion during the search operation. After breaking the concrete surface, officials discovered the concealed remains.
The recovery has sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, with residents expressing disbelief that the body had remained hidden inside the house for several weeks without anyone noticing.
Police Continue Investigation
The accused has been taken into custody and booked under relevant sections of the law. Officials are now gathering forensic evidence and recording statements from family members, neighbours and other witnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will depend on the forensic findings and additional evidence collected during the probe.
