Chandigarh: Security agencies were placed on high alert on Wednesday after several schools in Chandigarh and the office of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reportedly received bomb threat emails, prompting large-scale security checks and police deployment.

The alerts came on the day schools in Chandigarh reopened following the summer vacation, leading authorities to swiftly activate emergency protocols across the city.

Schools that reportedly received the threatening emails include First Air Force School in Sector 31, Government Model Senior Secondary Schools in Sectors 37-B and 37-D, Vivek High School in Sector 38, Sacred Heart School and Strawberry Fields High School in Sector 26, Delhi Public School in Sector 40, and Carmel Convent School in Sector 9.

Police teams, bomb disposal squads, and other security personnel rushed to the affected institutions to conduct thorough searches. Security was also tightened around the office of the Haryana Chief Minister as officials assessed the situation.

Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the source of the emails and determine whether the threats are genuine. As of the time of filing this report, no suspicious objects had been found at any of the locations, and search operations were continuing.

Officials have urged the public to remain calm while security agencies complete their investigation.
