Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini expressed confidence that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form a government in West Bengal under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He said that the Prime Minister’s pro-poor and welfare-oriented schemes have benefited crores of people, helping them rise above the poverty line.

Responding to questions during a press conference in Chandigarh, the Chief Minister said that, “Raja Nahi, Kisan Ka Beta hoon, Kheti bhi Ki hai” (“I do not consider myself a ruler but a farmer’s son, who has personally worked in the fields”). He emphasised that he understands farmers’ problems closely and is continuously working with commitment to resolve their issues.

Reacting to the opposition’s visits to mandis, he said that Congress leaders are trying to create a false narrative as if farmers were better off during their tenure. He accused them of misleading the public, adding that the people have now decisively rejected them. Since 2014, the double-engine government has been accelerating development work in Haryana.

Responding to another question,Saini criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, stating that it had made big promises to voters, including loan waivers for farmers, employment for youth, drug eradication, and benefits for women and they havent fullfilled any promise.

He said that several schemes are being effectively implemented in Haryana for farmers, women, and youth, and assured that similar systems would be introduced in Punjab once the BJP forms a government there.

The Chief Minister further said that under the Ayushman Chirayu Yojana in Haryana, more than 27 lakh families have benefited from healthcare services. He criticised the “Mohalla Clinics” model in Punjab, remarking that people are now dissatisfied with them and seeking change.

He said that the state cabinet has approved the promotion of 18,000 Group D employees, and a one-day Vidhan Sabha session has been called for this purpose. On law and order, Sh. Saini said strict monitoring is being carried out across the state. Strong action is being taken against those involved in drug trafficking, while efforts are also being made to rehabilitate affected individuals through de-addiction centres. Awareness campaigns are being conducted to prevent substance abuse, including a marathon organised in Panchkula on April 14, 2026 to mark Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, aimed at spreading awareness against drug use.
