CHANDIGARH / PATIALA, April 10, 2026: Punjab Industries, Commerce, Investment Promotion, Local Government and Power Minister Sanjeev Arora held a district-level MSME meeting in Patiala, where he interacted with industrialists and listened to their concerns. Several issues raised by entrepreneurs from different districts were addressed on the spot during the meeting.
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh was also present on the occasion.
₹1300 Crore Urban Road Project and Civic Improvements
During the meeting, Minister Sanjeev Arora directed the Local Government Department to improve sanitation and sewerage systems in cities. He stressed that providing basic civic amenities to people must remain the top priority of the government.
In a major announcement, he said that by the end of May, around 2,120 kilometers of roads will be constructed in urban areas across Punjab at a cost of ₹1300 crore. He added that a separate plan has also been prepared for rural road development.

New Industrial Park Policy to Boost Investment
The minister announced that the Punjab Government will roll out a new Industrial Park Policy within a month. Under this policy, large industrial parks spread over at least 25 acres will be developed across the state.
He said that these parks will be developed through joint participation of industrialists and real estate developers. Investors will be able to register for these projects and obtain necessary approvals in a streamlined manner.
He added that the upcoming policy will encourage private sector participation and accelerate industrial growth. The parks will offer both large and small plots, catering to different types of industries, especially MSMEs.
Officials from the Industry Department appreciated the government’s new policies, and industrialists also expressed satisfaction with the initiatives taken.
Focus on Farmers, Power Sector and New Industries
Sanjeev Arora reiterated that the government is fully committed to protecting farmers’ interests. He said that in case of crop loss or natural disasters, the government will provide all possible assistance.
He also warned of strict action against those involved in selling fake seeds.
Speaking about the power sector, he said that earlier solar projects were allocated fully, but now the power board is issuing tenders directly, which has shown positive results.
The minister further stated that the new Industrial Policy 2026 will include emerging sectors such as film studios, hospitals and hotels. Special emphasis is being placed on strengthening the MSME sector, which is considered the backbone of industrial growth.
Punjab Emerging as Investment Destination
Sanjeev Arora claimed that Punjab is rapidly emerging as a preferred destination for investors and that other states are also taking note of these initiatives.
He said that the government’s main goal is people-centric development and that through improvements in industry, infrastructure and public services, Punjab will achieve new heights of progress.
Several leaders and officials, including MLAs Chetan Singh Jaura Majra and Ajitpal Singh Kohli, Mayor Kundan Gogia, Deputy Mayor Harinder Kohli, and senior officers, along with representatives from various industries, were present at the meeting.
