CHANDIGARH, June 18, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday addressed Punjabis across the world and strongly refuted allegations linking him to a controversial viral video, stating that two independent forensic reports have completely exposed the truth behind what he described as a politically motivated conspiracy to malign his image and disturb Punjab’s social harmony.
In a detailed video message, the Chief Minister said that his entire public life has been devoted to serving Punjab and its people, and no amount of false propaganda could weaken his relationship with the Sangat or the people of the state. He asserted that scientific examination of the viral video has conclusively established that the individual seen in the footage is not him.
CM Mann further announced that he has directed Punjab Police and the Director General of Police (DGP) to identify every individual involved in creating, funding and circulating the alleged fake video and bring them before the law.
Forensic Examination of 1,191 Frames Found No Match with CM Mann
Presenting details of the forensic findings, Bhagwant Mann said that two independent laboratories located outside Punjab thoroughly examined the controversial video.
According to the Chief Minister, experts analyzed a total of 1,191 video frames and compared facial features, height, side profile, front profile, body structure, posture and other physical characteristics.
“The reports clearly state that not a single frame matches my face, my profile, my eyes, my height, my physique or my body structure. The individual shown in the video is someone else,” Mann said.
He further noted that forensic experts estimated the height of the person appearing in the video to be approximately two inches taller than his own height.
“How can my height suddenly increase by two inches in a video? The reports have scientifically established that someone deliberately used another person to create a false narrative and project that individual as Bhagwant Mann,” he said.
The Chief Minister also questioned the origin of the video, asking who recorded it, where it was filmed and who initially circulated it.
CM Highlights Government Initiatives for Religious and Public Welfare
During his address, Bhagwant Mann recalled several decisions taken by his government which, according to him, reflected his commitment to religious institutions, public welfare and Punjab’s cultural heritage.
He mentioned that as a Member of Parliament he was instrumental in ensuring that tribute was paid to the Chhote Sahibzadas in Parliament for the first time.
The Chief Minister also highlighted his government’s decision to exempt specially designed vehicles carrying religious scriptures from Motor Vehicle Tax. He said the exemption was introduced to support Nagar Kirtans and other religious events promoting communal harmony and brotherhood.
Mann further referred to the state-level commemorations of the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the special Punjab Vidhan Sabha session held at Anandpur Sahib and the decision to grant Holy City status to Amritsar, Sri Anandpur Sahib and Talwandi Sabo.
He also highlighted the enactment of the Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, which introduced stringent punishments for acts of sacrilege.
“People appreciated this law because it strengthened legal protection for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Many people personally conveyed their satisfaction after its enactment,” he said.
Political Motives Behind the Controversy, Claims Chief Minister
Bhagwant Mann alleged that certain political forces became uncomfortable with the popularity of his government and the reforms introduced over the past few years.
He said the people of Punjab have shown tremendous affection towards him wherever he travels across the state.
“The love, blessings and support I receive from people are difficult for some individuals to tolerate. Whenever I attend public gatherings, people come in large numbers, offer blessings and express their faith in the government,” he said.
The Chief Minister claimed that the fake video controversy was designed to damage his reputation because of the growing public support being enjoyed by the AAP government.
He also criticised what he described as attempts to use religious institutions and sentiments for political purposes.
Government Achievements Becoming Difficult for Opponents to Digest
Highlighting his government’s performance, CM Mann said Punjab has witnessed significant improvements in governance and public services since 2022.
He listed several initiatives including:
- Free electricity for nearly 90 percent of households.
- More than 67,000 government jobs provided on merit.
- Establishment of Aam Aadmi Clinics.
- Launch of Schools of Eminence.
- Improvement of road infrastructure.
- Closure of toll plazas saving approximately ₹70 lakh daily.
- Expansion of canal irrigation coverage from 22 percent to over 80 percent.
The Chief Minister noted that canal water has reached many fields after decades, benefiting farmers across the state.
“Farmers are offering Ardas before allowing canal water to enter their fields. Such developments are transforming rural Punjab and improving the lives of ordinary people,” he said.
DGP Directed to Identify Everyone Involved
Bhagwant Mann said he has instructed the Punjab DGP to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the alleged conspiracy.
He demanded that every individual involved in planning, funding, producing and distributing the video be identified irrespective of where they are located.
“Whether the video was created in Punjab, elsewhere in India or abroad, every person associated with it must be identified and brought before the Sangat,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated that Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the Sangat hold the highest respect in Sikh tradition, but appealed to people not to fall victim to politically motivated campaigns designed to regain lost political relevance.
Appeal to Punjabis Across the World
Concluding his address, Bhagwant Mann urged Punjabis around the world to remain vigilant against misinformation and attempts to create divisions in society.
He said religion should never be used as a political tool and reaffirmed his commitment to serving Punjab without discrimination.
“Every second of my life and every heartbeat is dedicated to Punjab. I will continue to stand for Punjab’s rights and interests without fear or selfish motives. I have always served Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Sangat and the people of Punjab, and I will continue doing so,” the Chief Minister said.
Ending his message, he greeted the people with, “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.”
