Municipal Body Elections on May 10, Voter Identification Guidelines Issued

Chandigarh: The general elections for 3 Municipal Corporations, 1 Municipality, and 3 Municipal Councils in the state will be held on May 10. Voting will take place from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Sharing details in this regard, a spokesperson of the Haryana State Election Commission said that voters who have not yet received their Voter Photo Identity Cards but whose names are listed in the current electoral rolls of the respective Municipal Corporation, Municipality, or Municipal Council will not be deprived of voting. Such voters can use documents like Aadhaar Card, Family ID, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, service identity cards issued by central/state government offices, public sector undertakings or local bodies, photo passbooks issued by authorized banks or post offices, Freedom Fighter ID, caste certificates (SC/ST/OBC) with photo, disability certificate, arms license, MGNREGA job card with photo, property-related photo documents, pension-related photo documents, health insurance smart card, ration card, or any other photo identity document acceptable to the Presiding Officer.

The spokesperson further shared that the distribution of voter slips has been completed in most places. Directions have been issued to ensure that in areas where distribution is still pending, concerned officers must complete the process within the stipulated time and ensure delivery to every household.

The Commission has appealed to citizens to exercise their right to vote and actively participate in the democratic process. It also emphasized that public cooperation is essential to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections.
