Chandigarh: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) announced the results of the Third International Punjabi Language Olympiad 2025 today. In the international category, Niamat Kaur Brar (Oslo, Norway) topped Class 3–5, Simrit Kaur (Nairobi, Kenya) led Class 6–8, and Parmeet Singh Gurm (Oslo) topped Class 9–12. In the Punjab category, Reenat Mahal (Amritsar), Karajneet Kaur (Patiala), and Inderjeet Singh (Moga) secured the top spots in Classes 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12, respectively. The Olympiad also saw strong participation from other Indian states, with top positions going to students from Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains congratulated the winners and praised the PSEB for making the Olympiad a huge success, with participation jumping from just 8,000 in the previous edition to over 2.25 lakh students globally this year. Minister Bains emphasized that the Olympiad was not merely a competition, but a movement to instill pride, confidence, and cultural identity associated with the Punjabi language among students. The event was open to students from government, private, aided, and CBSE schools, as well as NRI students, reinforcing Punjabi’s global reach.

PSEB Chairman Dr. Amarpal Singh highlighted the transparent process, using Face Recognition Technology for all three online stages. Out of 2,25,276 registrations, 20,327 reached the second stage, 4,009 the finals, and 3,748 appeared for the final written exam on December 23, 2025. Winners will receive cash prizes ranging from Rs. 11,000 to Rs. 5,100, totaling Rs. 3.3 lakh, with schools having the highest registrations also being honoured. Dr. Singh reaffirmed that PSEB will continue to expand such initiatives, in line with CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of connecting students with their linguistic and cultural roots.
