Remission granted to 433 cconvicted prisoners on Independence Day

Shimla: The Spokesperson of the state government has informed that on the occasion of Independence Day, 2026, the State Government remission has been granted to eligible convicted prisoners under the applicable provisions of law.

Out of 1,025 convicted prisoners lodged in various jails across Himachal Pradesh, 433 prisoners were eligible to benefit from the remission through reduction in their sentences. The Spokesperson further informed that three convicted prisoners would be released solely on account of the grant of this remission on the occasion of Independence Day, 2026.
