Shimla: Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (HPBOCW), Nardev Singh Kanwar, today here chaired the 55th meeting of the Board of Directors and reviewed various welfare initiatives and measures for the benefit of registered construction workers across the State.
The Chairman said that an amount of Rs. 20.61 crore had been disbursed to 4,967 registered workers under various welfare schemes on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15, 2026.

The Board took several decisions for the welfare of the workers registered under board. He said that improving digital access and enhancing monitoring of schemes was the top most priority of the board. He directed to expedite the development of the Digital Labour Chowk Application, Cess Portal and Digital Labour Chowk-cum-Facilitator Centres as per the mandate of the Government of India.
The Board also accorded ex-post facto approval for development of the Digital Labour Chowk Mobile Application to facilitate digital access to registered workers. Approval was also accorded for procurement of software for maintenance and management of digital data of registered workers.
The meeting also considered implementation of foreign language skill training courses, including Japanese, Arabic, English and German for registered workers under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme or provisions of the Code on Social Security, 2020.
He said that to ensure wider dissemination of welfare schemes, the Board sanctioned Rs. one crore under the Publicity and Advertisement head for durable wall paintings on government buildings, as per the Government of India Model Welfare Scheme guidelines. Approval was also accorded for installation of outdoor LED displays around Gandhi Chowk, Hamirpur, as well as at other district and zonal headquarters for dissemination of information regarding various welfare schemes being implemented by the Board.
Nardev Singh Kanwar emphasized the need for expeditious processing of pending claims and directed to ensuring timely benefits and effective welfare services for construction workers across the state.
Board members Rakesh Gaur, Vijay Wardhan, Anupam Kumar, Munish Karol, Jyoti Chauhan, Gopal Krishan, Neelam Gupta, N.S. Chauhan, Nishi Bhatti, Umesh Sharma, Sahil Dhiman, Ravinder Singh Ravi, Bhupender Singh, Pradeep Kumar and Hema Tanwar were also present in the meeting.
