Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that the goal of strengthening Haryana’s own revenue system will be achieved not by increasing tax rates, but by expanding the tax base, improving compliance, curbing revenue leakages and making effective use of modern technology. The government’s clear objective is to enhance the state’s fiscal capacity without imposing any additional burden on honest taxpayers.
Nayab Singh Saini was addressing the inaugural session of a national conference organised to analyse and strengthen ‘Haryana’s Own Tax Revenue System’ for Viksit Haryana 2047 on Wednesday. The conference was organised by the Swarna Jayanti Haryana Institute for Fiscal Management (SJHIFM).
He said that artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced data analytics and integrated databases can be used to identify risks, prevent revenue leakages and improve compliance. However, technology should not be used only for monitoring; it should also enable better services for honest taxpayers.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the national conference would not remain limited to deliberations but would provide a basis for concrete steps towards making Haryana’s revenue system stronger, modern, transparent and citizen-centric.
Director General of Swarna Jayanti Haryana Institute for Fiscal Management, Dr. Raj Nehru said that the conference would serve as an important link towards achieving the Government of India’s goal of a developed India by 2047, making Haryana a USD 1.5 trillion economy, creating 50 lakh new jobs and fulfilling the commitment to good governance.
