Chandigarh: Haryana Minister of State for Sports and Youth Empowerment, Gaurav Gautam, has congratulated and extended his best wishes to the athletes of Haryana for their outstanding performance at the Asian Games being held in Japan. He said that Haryana’s athletes are bringing laurels to the State and the country on the international sporting stage through their hard work, talent and determination. Their achievements have created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and pride across Haryana.
The Sports Minister said that Haryana has always been a State that has produced outstanding sportspersons for the country. Athletes from the State have carved a distinct identity in wrestling, shooting, hockey, athletics and various other sporting disciplines. He said the impressive performance at the Asian Games also reflects Haryana’s strong sporting culture and the hard work of its athletes.
Haryana hockey player Deepika Sehrawat has also delivered an impressive performance at the Asian Games, scoring eight goals single-handedly in India women’s hockey team’s match. This is being viewed as a significant achievement for Indian hockey.
He said the performance of Haryana’s athletes at the Asian Games is an inspiration for lakhs of youngsters across the State, and expressed hope that the athletes would win more medals for the country in the upcoming competitions as well.
