Haryana Accelerates Digital Connectivity

Chandigarh: Haryana has expanded digital connectivity, now covering 5,154 of 6,222 Gram Panchayats under BharatNet and activating 45,130 FTTH connections. Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi today reviewed these broadband and telecom infrastructure initiatives.

At the State Broadband Committee meeting, Rastogi reviewed the implementation of the Telecommunications (Right of Way) Rules, 2024, the progress on the Amended BharatNet Programme, the expedited telecom infrastructure application clearances, 5G infrastructure, expansion, and protection of underground utility networks.

A key highlight was progress under the Amended BharatNet Programme. Of 6,222 Gram Panchayats, 5,154 (82.84%) have been covered, with 1,068 remaining. Haryana has 45,130 working FTTH connections, achieving 72.53% of the 62,220 target.

Haryana has advanced digitization of telecom infrastructure approvals by continuing with the upgraded Invest Haryana portal, which now accommodates the RoW Rules, 2024 and BharatNet. Key functions such as permission timelines, temporary overground networks, and special projects have been integrated.

Apoorva Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Haryana, PW (B&R) Department, Vijayendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to Govt., Haryana, Development & Panchayats Department, J.Ganesan, Commissioner & Secretary, CRID and Samwartak Singh Khangwal, Director, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Haryana were also present in the meeting.
