Chandigarh– Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana has launched a major initiative aimed at increasing farmers’ income and strengthening them with modern agricultural knowledge. Under the new plan, progressive farmers from every district of the state will be sent on “Exposure Visits” to different parts of the country to learn advanced farming techniques, modern methods and market practices. Thousands of farmers are expected to benefit from the programme.
The minister said that the initiative is being implemented following an announcement made by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in his Budget speech. Farmers will visit agriculture-focused states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana to study successful farming models. During these visits, they will learn about micro-irrigation techniques in Gujarat, grape and pomegranate cultivation in Maharashtra, and advanced seed production methods in Telangana.
Shyam Singh Rana further said that the programme will also focus on direct market linkage to help farmers earn better profits. Farmers will be trained to sell their produce directly in the market instead of depending on middlemen. They will also interact with farmer groups in other states that are involved in grading, packaging and branding agricultural products before selling them directly to consumers and large retailers.
