Chandigarh: Haryana’s Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Sh. Shyam Singh Rana has directed officials to ensure that all departmental announcements made in the March 2025 Budget are completed within the stipulated timeframe. Rana was presiding over a meeting of the officers of the Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department here today.
On this occasion, Commissioner and Secretary Vijay Singh Dahiya, Director General Dr. Prem Singh and other senior officers were present.
While addressing the meeting, the Cabinet Minister instructed that the benefits of all animal husbandry-related schemes must reach every livestock owner. He reviewed proposals to establish special centres to promote the production of goat and sheep milk, to provide high-quality sheep breeds free of cost to BPL families, and to make the sheep and goat insurance scheme completely free from next year.
Rana said that goat milk is rich in medicinal properties, and its increased production will give a new boost to the rural economy.
He also reviewed initiatives to provide interest-free loans of up to Rs 1 lakh to women for setting up dairies, to supply high-genetic breeds such as Beetal, Sirohi, and Munjal goats to livestock farmers, to set up a Sex-Sorted Semen Laboratory for breed improvement, and to ensure adequate availability of medicines and equipment in veterinary institutions.
The Minister also emphasized the need to improve facilities in gaushalas Rana stated that the State Government’s goal is to make every livestock farmer self-reliant and to make animal husbandry the backbone of Haryana’s rural economy.
