CHANDIGARH/PATIALA: In the early hours of the morning in Patiala, 46-year-old Sunita Rani found herself battling severe pain and exhaustion. What began as persistent discomfort in her lower back gradually turned into sharp pain along her side, making it difficult for her to even stand or walk properly. Swelling in her feet increased day by day, and simple household tasks became physically draining. Despite the worsening symptoms, Sunita continued her daily routine until her family insisted she seek medical attention.

After learning about the benefits of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, Sunita quickly registered under the scheme and received a Sehat Card for her family. She was admitted to Mata Kaushalya Hospital, where doctors conducted detailed tests and diagnosed kidney stones stuck in her ureter. Medical experts also found that her diabetes and severe swelling needed to be brought under control before surgery could be performed safely. Doctors immediately started treatment to stabilize her condition and reduce complications.

Sunita says the scheme has brought major relief to her family, as her treatment, regular check-ups, and upcoming surgery are being provided cashless. Doctors have prescribed another 10-day treatment plan, after which the surgery date will be finalized depending on her recovery. Medical experts warn that kidney stone cases are increasing rapidly, especially among diabetic patients and those suffering from dehydration or unhealthy food habits. Sunita’s improving condition now stands as an example of how timely diagnosis and government-supported healthcare can ease financial stress and help families access quality treatment when they need it most.
