Shimla: In a significant move toward digital governance and enhanced hospitality, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today officially launched the online reservation application for Jal Shakti Vibhag (JSV) Rest Houses.

The new platform is designed to streamline the booking process, ensuring transparency and efficiency for both departmental officials and the general public. Speaking at the launch, the Deputy Chief Minister commended the Jal Shakti Vibhag for its proactive approach to modernization. He highlighted that the App’s primary feature, instant booking confirmation, is a major milestone.

“This digital initiative will eliminate the uncertainty and long wait times previously associated with room confirmations,” stated Agnihotri. “By providing status updates within minutes, we are ensuring a hassle-free experience for all guests.”

Providing further details on the initiative, Secretary (Jal Shakti) Abhishek Jain noted that the department manages an extensive network of 87 rest houses across the state, offering a total of 324 rooms. He said that reservations are confirmed within two to three minutes of application. Bookings can be made directly via the official portal at jsv.hp.nic.in or jsvresthouse.hp.gov.in

Jain said that there is normal tariff of Rs. 500 for Himachali’s and Rs. 1000 for Non Himachali’s. The guest will have to pay half the advance at the time of booking and the rest half later at checkout. Besides this, the streamlined system is expected to increase occupancy rates, thereby boosting departmental revenue, said Jain

To complement the digital rollout, the department has implemented a comprehensive 50-point Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) focused on maintenance and hygiene. These guidelines mandate strict protocols regarding cleanliness of bed linens and washrooms, Regular maintenance of electrical appliances and fixtures, general upkeep and aesthetic standards of the premises.

This dual focus on digital accessibility and high-quality maintenance reflects the State Government’s commitment to providing superior infrastructure and services to visitors across Himachal Pradesh, he said.

Engineer-in-Chief Anju Sharma, Chief Engineer’s Anil Mehta, Hemant Tanwar Deepak Garg and Mukesh Hira and other senior officers of the department were present on the occasion.
