Shimla: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of the New Year 2026.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the New Year would bring abundant happiness to everyone and serve as a symbol of renewed aspirations, fresh resolutions, and positive energy. He said that the people of Himachal Pradesh have stood shoulder to shoulder with the government in facing several challenges the State faced.
He stated that the past year the State faced several disasters but even then, it was year of development and achievements for the state, during which new benchmarks were set in the fields of education, health, agriculture and infrastructure from its own resources besides the resolve and firm commitment of the State Government to eradicate chitta. Sukhu assured that the government would continue to stand firmly for the welfare of the people and the fight for the overall interests of the state in the future as well.
Government took innovative initiatives to start ‘Kangra Valley Karnival’, Shimla ‘Winter carnival’ and ‘Winter fest’ in Dalhousie making a new beginning in the History of the State on occasion of new year to boost tourism industry. This beginning has helped the State in tourist footfall in large number with hotels in Shimla and Dharamshala running to their full occupancy.
Appealing to the people of Himachal Pradesh, the Chief Minister urged everyone to collectively resolve in the New Year to make the state “clean, healthy, and self-reliant,” adding that public participation remains the government’s greatest strength.
He prayed to the Almighty that the New Year would bring happiness, peace, and immense prosperity into everyone’s lives.
