CHANDIGARH: Continuing the flagship Mission Rozgar, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday handed over appointment letters to 606 newly recruited Education Department candidates at a ceremony held at Tagore Theatre, marking a historic milestone of providing more than 61,000 government jobs to the youth of Punjab within four years. The newly appointed candidates include 385 Special Educator Teachers, 157 Primary Teachers, eight Principals, and 56 employees recruited on compassionate grounds. CM Mann emphasized that every appointment was made purely on merit and transparency, setting a new standard for public recruitment in the state.
Highlighting reforms in education, the Chief Minister announced the creation of a separate cadre of Special Educator Teachers for approximately 48,000 children with special needs enrolled in government schools. He said these appointments would ensure better learning outcomes and skill development for children at both primary and secondary levels. CM Mann urged the newly appointed teachers to not only educate but also guide and nurture the students, emphasizing that the role of a teacher shapes the future of the nation.
Underlining the government’s focus on quality education, CM Mann said Punjab’s teachers are receiving world-class training, with principals and officers trained in Singapore, head teachers at IIM Ahmedabad, and primary teachers at Turku University in Finland. The state is also establishing 118 Schools of Eminence, providing free uniforms and bus services for girls to ensure equal access to education. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains praised the reforms, noting visible improvements in government schools, including proper seating for all students and enhanced safety measures.
