Chandigarh: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has sharply criticized the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) over the disappearance of 328 sacred Swaroops, questioning why recommendations from the Ishar Singh Committee and the Internal Committee for strict action against the guilty have not been implemented. Sandhwan asked whether the inaction was a political conspiracy to protect the culprits and accused the current SGPC leadership of placing political interests above the maryada and sentiments of the Sikh community.

Sandhwan further alleged that the SGPC’s silence on the matter amounts to shielding the guilty. He said that if the inquiry reports were correct, the failure to act constitutes a grave Panthic crime for which the SGPC leadership is responsible. If the reports were incorrect, then the Sikh community has been deliberately kept in the dark, damaging the credibility of the institution.

The Speaker stressed that the Sikh sangat has the right to know who was responsible for obstructing justice and protecting the guilty. He warned that those who remained silent and provided shelter to the culprits will be held accountable by history, underlining the urgent need for transparency and action in the matter of the missing sacred Swaroops.
