New Delhi: On the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, the makers of Border 2 unveiled its first-look motion poster and confirmed the film’s worldwide theatrical release for January 22, 2026.

The motion poster features Sunny Deol back in an Indian Army uniform, wielding a bazooka, his eyes reflecting fierce determination. Sharing the poster on social media, Deol wrote, “Hindustan ke liye ladenge… phir ek baar! #Border2 hits theatres on Jan 22, 2026.”

Directed by Anurag Singh, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and veteran filmmaker J.P. Dutta, the man behind the original Border.

Producer Bhushan Kumar described Border as “more than just a movie — it’s an emotion for every Indian,” adding that Border 2 aims to carry that legacy forward for a new generation. The January release is planned to coincide with the extended Republic Day weekend, giving audiences the chance to celebrate patriotism on the big screen.

Director Anurag Singh called it an “honour” to helm a story that salutes the indomitable spirit of Indian soldiers. “Announcing the release date on Independence Day is symbolic. This day reminds us of the sacrifices made for India’s freedom, and our film reflects that sentiment,” he said.

Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. The sequel promises to revisit the raw courage, sacrifice, and national pride that made the original a timeless classic.
