Chandigarh: The Mataur police station in Mohali has registered a criminal case against Punjabi singer Dilpreet Singh Dhillon following allegations of assault, wrongful confinement, and intimidation with a firearm. Police initiated legal proceedings based on a formal complaint lodged by Raymant Marwaha, operator of the music firm Melody House.

According to the complainant, the dispute stemmed from a failed music deal with record label T-Series. Marwaha stated that Dhillon had approached him several months prior to facilitate a recording contract. Although meetings were arranged with company representatives, negotiations ultimately collapsed, leaving the singer aggrieved over the outcome.

The alleged incident occurred on the night of July 22 at a flat in Sector 70, Mohali. In his statement, Marwaha alleged that Dhillon confronted him, demanding financial arrangements for a new vehicle purchase. Upon expressing his inability to secure the deal, the singer allegedly assaulted Marwaha, brandished a firearm, and threatened his family before fleeing the scene.

Following the altercation, the complainant received medical treatment at the Civil Hospital in Phase 6, Mohali, before approaching law enforcement. Based on the complaint, police booked Dhillon under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) covering assault, wrongful restraint, and criminal intimidation, alongside provisions of the Arms Act. The investigation remains ongoing.
