Chandigarh: Punjabi singer Maninder Buttar has responded to allegations made by Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal against singer Daler Mehndi, as the controversy surrounding Mehndi’s performance at a fair in the state continues to draw attention.
The controversy began when Uniyal reportedly interrupted Mehndi’s performance during an event in Uttarakhand. The minister allegedly accused the singer of performing under the influence of alcohol, triggering a dispute over what happened on stage.
Buttar has now rejected the allegations made against him and his father and called for the complete, unedited footage of the 2019 show to be released publicly.
What Did Maninder Buttar Say About The Allegations?
Buttar said he was hurt after learning that the minister had made remarks about him and his father. Describing himself as an ordinary person who respects others, the singer said he had never deliberately intended to hurt anyone’s feelings.
He also firmly denied performing under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicating substance.
Buttar challenged the minister to make the full recording of the 2019 performance public, without cuts or edits. He said the footage would allow people to assess the incident for themselves and form their own opinions about the allegations.
His demand has brought renewed attention to the dispute, with the question of what the complete recording shows remaining central to the controversy.
Mika Singh Also Comes Out In Support Of Daler Mehndi
Meanwhile, Punjabi singer Mika Singh has also defended his brother, Daler Mehndi, amid the allegations.
Mika said Daler had been unwell for the past two years and had not yet fully recovered, although he continued to perform at shows. He also claimed that Daler did not consume alcohol and argued that the allegations against him were therefore unfair.
Mika urged Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal to call Daler Mehndi and apologise to him.
The dispute has now drawn responses from both Maninder Buttar and Mika Singh, with the singers challenging the allegations made against Daler Mehndi. The release of the complete 2019 performance footage could help provide further context to the incident.
