New Delhi: Two Nigerian nationals, including a woman, have been apprehended by the Dwarka District Police for allegedly staying in Delhi after their visas had expired, police said.
The action was carried out under Operation VISTA 1.0, a special verification campaign initiated by the Delhi Police to identify foreign nationals suspected of overstaying in India.
According to the police, the two individuals were found residing in the Dwarka area despite the expiry of their authorised stay. Following their apprehension, authorities initiated the necessary legal and verification procedures to establish the circumstances surrounding their continued stay in the country.
Police said the operation is aimed at strengthening monitoring of foreign nationals residing within the capital and ensuring compliance with immigration rules. As part of the drive, officers are conducting checks and verifying the documents and residential details of foreign nationals in different parts of the district.
The Dwarka District Police said such verification exercises are intended to identify cases of visa violations and facilitate appropriate action under the applicable laws.
