New Delhi— Several vehicles were involved in a collision on the Delhi–Sonipat road near Bahalgarh in Haryana on Monday as dense fog and poor visibility disrupted traffic conditions. At least one to two people were reportedly injured in the accident, according to eyewitness accounts.
The incident occurred when one car rammed into another due to low visibility caused by thick fog. While one of the vehicles involved in the initial collision left the spot, the other remained damaged and stationary on the road. Shortly after, a third car crashed into the halted vehicle from behind, worsening the situation. In total, three cars were involved in the accident.
Eyewitnesses told news agency ANI that visibility was extremely poor at the time of the collision, making it difficult for drivers to react in time. Visuals from the scene showed severely damaged vehicles scattered along the highway as police personnel conducted an investigation and managed traffic.
Another witness said that one or two people sustained injuries, though the exact number and severity were still being verified by authorities. Police officials said further details would emerge after a complete assessment of the incident.
The accident is part of a series of similar mishaps reported across north India over the past few days, with dense fog significantly affecting road safety. Earlier, two major accidents were reported on the Delhi–Mathura National Highway in Faridabad, where a speeding car lost control and crashed amid low visibility.
The India Meteorological Department had earlier issued a warning for dense fog across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh on December 30. Moderate to dense fog was reported in several areas, including Ambala, where visibility dropped to around 300 metres. Delhi remained under a red alert as foggy conditions continued to impact transport and daily life across the region.
