Delhi Police Seek Action From X Over Allegedly Defamatory Posts Targeting Constitutional Authorities

New Delhi: Delhi Police have approached social media platform X (formerly Twitter), seeking immediate action over content allegedly circulating online that is said to contain defamatory and malicious remarks against constitutional authorities.

According to official communication, the police have requested the platform to promptly remove the disputed post or video, stating that the material is alleged to be derogatory in nature and could be relevant to an ongoing investigation.

As part of the inquiry, investigators have also asked X to share the registration details of the account responsible for uploading the content. The request includes the account holder’s name, address, contact information, email ID, along with login and logout records carrying date and time stamps.

The police have further directed the platform to preserve all information related to the post to ensure that digital evidence remains available for the investigation. Authorities have also sought any additional information that could assist in identifying those responsible for publishing the content.

In addition, the communication asks X to furnish a certificate under Section 63(4) of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which relates to the admissibility and authentication of electronic evidence in legal proceedings.

The development comes as law enforcement agencies continue to monitor online platforms for content that may violate legal provisions or interfere with public order. No further details regarding the complaint or the specific social media account involved have been disclosed so far.
