New Delhi: A tragic incident was reported from Delhi’s JP Nagar late Sunday night after the roof of a residential house collapsed, trapping a couple beneath the debris. Both victims were pulled out during a rescue operation but were declared dead at the hospital.
According to officials, the deceased have been identified as Tinku (32) and his wife Urmila (30). The couple was inside their home when the roof suddenly gave way, burying them under the rubble.
Local residents rushed to the spot immediately after the collapse and joined police personnel in the rescue operation. After being extricated from the debris, the injured couple was taken to Jag Pravesh Hospital for emergency treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared both of them dead on arrival. The deaths were confirmed by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Santosh, officials said.
Sub-Inspector Sunil Sagar stated that the incident occurred during the night, and police responded promptly after receiving information about the collapse. The exact reason behind the roof caving in has not yet been established.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident. Authorities are also examining the structural condition of the house to ascertain whether the collapse was caused by deterioration, weather-related factors, or any other reason.
Further legal proceedings are underway.
