New Delhi: The Centre has approved an 11.56-km extension corridor of the Noida Metro Rail Project, connecting Noida Sector 142 to Botanical Garden, with eight elevated stations along the route.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

According to a government statement issued on Saturday, once operational, the new corridor will expand the active metro rail network across Noida and Greater Noida to 61.62 km. The extension is aimed at strengthening urban mobility and improving last-mile connectivity in the rapidly growing NCR region.

The corridor will add approximately 11.56 km of elevated tracks and significantly enhance public transport access between key residential and commercial hubs.

Importantly, the extension will provide seamless connectivity at Botanical Garden with major high-demand corridors of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, including the Blue Line and Magenta Line, enabling smoother interchanges for daily commuters.

Officials said the project marks a major step forward in bolstering the city’s transport infrastructure and easing traffic congestion in Noida and adjoining areas.
