New Delhi: A massive security operation was launched at the Delhi Legislative Assembly on Monday, April 13, 2026, after an anonymous email warned of a potential bomb threat on the premises. The threat prompted an immediate multi-agency response, with teams from the Delhi Police, bomb disposal squads, and dog units arriving at the complex shortly after the alert was raised. Fire services were also placed on standby as a precautionary measure to handle any emergency.
Security agencies conducted a thorough “search and sanitization” of the entire Assembly complex to rule out the presence of any explosive devices. During the operation, security around the building was significantly tightened, and access to the premises was restricted. Preliminary investigations indicate that the threat was delivered via email, similar to several hoax threats recently received by government institutions and schools across the National Capital Region.
While no suspicious items were found during the sweep, the incident caused a temporary halt to routine administrative activities at the Assembly. The Delhi Police cyber cell has been roped in to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender. Authorities have remained on high alert, emphasizing that they are treating all such communications with the utmost seriousness to ensure public safety.
