Chandigarh Government Schools Cancel Second Saturday Holiday for Students

Chandigarh: Students studying in government schools across Chandigarh will no longer get a holiday on the second Saturday of every month. The School Education Department has taken this decision to make up for the academic loss caused by recent heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions.

Director of School Education, HPS Brar, issued orders stating that due to continuous rainfall in recent days, schools across the state had to remain shut for nearly a week. This disrupted academic activities and negatively impacted students’ learning.

To compensate for the loss of study time, the department has cancelled the second Saturday holiday. Officials said that this move will provide students with additional classroom hours and help complete the syllabus on time.

The department has sent instructions regarding the order to all district education officers and school administrations to ensure its immediate implementation.
